It all started with the haunting, lonely call of the Common Loon.

Back in early summer a few years ago, while walking my dog through the neighbourhood, I would often hear a loon (or sometimes two) pass overhead. They have the most haunting, the loveliest, loneliest call. I would stop and watch them until I could no longer see them.

I had a decent enough camera and a (smaller) zoom lens. I knew that loons needed big bodies of water on which to land and take off, so I started going on walking missions to find out where they might be hanging out, resting, or nesting.

Soon, finding and photographing birds become an all-consuming passion. I’ve always been a shutterbug, and have always had a good eye, and soon I was capturing images worthy of printing, framing and hanging.

I am regularly out finding new species to photograph. A thousand images might yield two dozen images that are worthy of being reproduced for sale.

While I am out, I also take landscape photos, and never miss an opportunity to capture deer, wild horses, bears, chipmunks, porcupines, weasels … whatever crosses my path.

Have a look at the gallery of photos to see which one catches your fancy. I am honoured to share the beauty of our natural world.
